Akko, also know as Acre in Israel is a World heritage site. It is a walled city that dates way back in time. It’s pretty amazing to walk the underground caverns and explore the city too. It is actually two cities in one. One above ground and the other below.
Akko, also know as Acre, Israel is a coastal town located in the northern part of Israel, just north of Haifa.

There is ferry service to Akko from Haifa.
If you are already in the country, renting a car is a great option as you can explore on your own. Just use a service like Google Maps for directions.
I did not stay at a hotel on Akko, the visit was short and only an evening. I stayed at the Dan Carmel Haifa Hotel in nearby Haifa which is on the top of hill overlooking the city of Haifa; pretty amazing views from there. There are plenty of places to stay in Akko though.
There are lots of little places to eat around the town. You may also eat at the Knights’ Hall where they have a show and a banquet.
I implore you to walk the city, peek into the streets, the stores and talk to the locals. Also ensure you walk the lower part of the city as well. The Old Town is quite amazing as well.
