Changi is the name of the town in which the Singapore Changi airport is located. Most people just go directly into the city, forgetting about this very sleepy, but charming town. And there’s actually quite a lot to do here and also eat. Try it on your next visit.
Changi is located at the very tip of Singapore on the eastern side of the small country, just across the border from Malaysia. Matter of fact, there are ferries from Malaysia to Changi.
How To Get Here
The best way to get to Changi is to take a taxi from the Changi Airport. You can always take a bus as well, but it requires a change. It’s typically very hot in Singapore, so you have to be prepared for this option.
There is no train service to the town of Changi. There is the SMRT which has service in Singapore itself and there is also service provided by the Singapore LTA. If you want a bit of luxury, you can take the Oriental Express from Bangkok to Singapore.
The closest commercial airport to Changi is Singapore Changi Airport (SIN), the home of Singapore Airlines, Scoot and SilkAir. As a matter of fact, the airport is in the town of Changi.

There are a few hotels in the area, including the Village Hotel Changi, The Treehouse Villa, The Seaview Resort, The Aloha Changi, The Changi Cove and the Aloha Resort to name a few. You may also, stay at the airport hotels including the Crowne Plaza that is actually on the airport property.

Where To Eat
The place to eat here are very local places and have really great food. The Hawkers Market has a wide variety of food prepared the way the locals like to eat. There are also several restaurants such as: Charlie’s Corner, Changi Village Seafood, Little Island Brewing, Tang Teahouse and Jacob’s Cafe. There are many places to eat here.
What To Do
Changi is a very local area, so the thing to do here is to go to the beach and the park at the Changi Beach Park, watch airplanes and go to the Changi Hawkers Market where you can eat a lot of local foods. You should also try to visit the Changi World War II Museum.
You may also rent bicycles are ride around the area and if you like golf, there’s the Changi Gold Club in the area.
