When you go to Seattle, Washington USA, you can’t help but see the Space Needle, but you perhaps have never made it up I-5 a bit and exited at the Hiram M. Chittenden Locks. You are in for a treat the next time you are in Seattle and decide to stop in. There’s a beautiful Park, beautiful boats to see as they pass through the Locks and just a way to relax and enjoy the outdoors.
The Hiram M. Chittenden Locks, also known as the Ballard Locks are located just north of Seattle in the state of Washington. It is the busiest Locks in the U.S. with about 50,000 movements/year. It connects Salmon Bay to Shilshole Bay and Lake Washington, Lake Union (both fresh water) and the Puget Sound (salt water) meets.
