Where
The Hiram M. Chittenden Locks, also known as the Ballard Locks are located just north of Seattle in the state of Washington. It is the busiest Locks in the U.S. with about 50,000 movements/year. It connects Salmon Bay to Shilshole Bay and Lake Washington, Lake Union (both fresh water) and the Puget Sound (salt water) meets.

The Seattle area is full of hotels, so you will not have any issues find a place to stay. You will be hard pressed to decide where to stay. If you like, you can try to stay as close to the Locks as possible or stay in the downtown area.

Where To Eat
The Lockspot Cafe is the closest place to the Locks to eat. Check out Ray’s Boathouse which is in the adjacent Sunset Hill neighborhood. You can also walk through the neighborhood to find other places to eat. And you are in the Seattle area so finding a place to eat will not be an issue at all.

What To Do
You are here to see the Locks and enjoy the Park. Also, you can go under the Locks and watch the salmon swim upstream at certain times of the year.
