JAL, New Mexico is located in the southwest quadrant of New Mexico, just over the Texas border and not far from Hobbs, New Mexico.

How To Get Here

The area is quite remote and there are not many ways to get there.

By Train

There is no train service to JAl. Closest routes are the Sunset Limited and the Texas Eagle which both stops in the cities of Deming, NM (DEM) and Lordsburg, NM (LDB). From there you’d have to rent a car if available.

By Plane

The nearest airport is the Lea County Regional and is served by United Airlines (UA) with service from Houston-Intercontinental, Houston TX (IAH).

Alternatively, you can use Roswell, NM (ROW) which is served by American Airlines (AA); Midland/Odessa, TX (MAF) served by American Airlines (AA), Southwest (WN) and United Airlines (UA); and Lubbock, TX (LBB) also served by American Airlines (AA), Southwest (WN) and United Airlines (UA), not too far away.

By Bus

There is no bus service. Closest service is in Hobbs, New Mexico provided by Greyhound.

By Car

If you are already in the region you can take the drive. Just use a service like Google Maps for directions.

There are two hotels in JAL, Hiltop Inn and Signor Lodging. You can also find places in nearby Andrews and Hobbs about 40 or so miles away.

What To Do

This is oil country. You can drive for miles and all you see are oil derricks pumping oil. Then you happen upon a small town and more of the same and repeat. One of those small towns is JAL. Nothing to do here, but take photos with the tiger at the sign to the town, walk the town and enjoy JAL Lake and the local park.
