Jefferson City, Missouri USA is a university town (Lincoln University) located in the Midwest of the country. With a vibrant downtown and many historic buildings, its worthwhile visiting. It is also the state capital, so you can explore the Capitol Building which is just next to the Missouri River. Plus its got an old prison you can visit too.
Jefferson City is located in the state of Missouri in the United States of America. It is the state’s capital city located north of Springfield, Missouri and between Kansas City and St. Louis, both also in Missouri. The Missouri River also runs next to the city.
How To Get Here
As its a college town and the state’s capital, its easily accessible by multiple modes of transportation.
The service is provided by Amtrak. The station sits not far from the state’s capitol building.
The closest airport to Jefferson City, Missouri is Columbia Regional Airport (COU).

There is also service to Springfield-Branson National Airport (SGF) in Springfield, MO. It’s about a three-hour or so drive though.

Jefferson City has a fair share of hotels to choose from. I must say that service at the Candlewood Suites from IHG is quite good and located about a 7-minute drive from the city. There are plenty of city options as well.

Where To Eat
Ah, this city has many, may places to eat. You can find places in the city center or along what I call the Food Mile, Missouri Boulevard. I think every fast food chain or restaurant in the U.S. has a location on this street :-).
What To Do
You can visit the State Capitol Building as well as several Museums around the area. There’s also the Governor’s Mansion which is located within walking distance to the State Capitol. I wonder if the governor walks to work?
One unique item is the Old State Prison. It’s located just at the edge of the city across from the Tourist Info Center which itself is in a beautiful old building.
If you like nature, then be sure and visit the Runge Conservation Nature Center, just outside of the city.
It’s Missouri so there has to be a Lewis and Clarke Monument and yes, there’s one between the Governor’ Mansion and the Sate Capitol.
