Why
The Kungsholmen district is a very beautiful residential part of Stockholm that gets you away from the areas most visited by tourist. You get to see how the locals live and still get to visit the major city attractions. Of course all of Stockholm is quite picturesque, but this area is even more so. Wait until you visit, you will see what I mean.

Where
Kungsholmen, Stockholm, Sweden is a group of three islands that are a part of the city of Stockholm. It’s within walking distance of the main center of Norrmalm and connected by bridges. It lies to the west of the city center.
How To Get Here
By Train
The Stockholm Metro has service on this island. You can take the trains or buses from the airport into the city and then take either a local bus, the Metro, taxi or just walk across the bridges.
By Plane
There are four airports serving this city:
Stockholm-Arlanda (ARN), Stockholm-Bromma (BMA), Stockholm Skavsta (NYO) and Stockholm Västerås Airport (VST). The Flygbussarna will take you into the city from there.

Where To Stay
There is a Marriott Courtyard on the island and it sits just outside the main park. There’s also a Clarion Hotel Amaranten, Hotel Aldoria and First Hotel Fridhemsplan as well. You can find plenty of other accommodations in central Stockholm of course.

Where To Eat
The island is full of places to eat and of course you can walk into the center of Stockholm and get pretty much whatever kind of food you desire. There are also food stalls in the park during summer.

What To Do
Walk. Walk the area and enjoy the views from the river’s edge. The views are really very scenic. There is a walking trail by the Lake Mälaren which runs along Norr Mälarstrand street.

Take your time and enjoy the views. Watch for the runners though. Further down this street/trail is the Rålambshovsparken. A huge park for you to enjoy. There’s also a smaller park called Kronobergsparken that you should check out as well as Fredhällsparken.

Ensure that you cross the Västerbron bridge as this is where you get the best views of Stockholm.
