Want to visit a Central American paradise? Then try Roatan, It is a hidden gem in Honduras with beautiful beaches and diving if that’s your thing and really good food! It’s a great place just to get away and do something or nothing…
Roatan, Honduras is an island located off the northwestern coast of Honduras and sits east of Belize.
How To Get Here
Safe Way Maritime provides ferry service from Roatan to La Cieba on the mainland of Honduras. Journey time is a little under an hour and a half.
The closest airport is the Roatan Airport (RTB). The following airline serves the airport:
American Airlines (AA), AviancaTACA (AV), Cayman Airways (KX), CM Airlines (CC), Delta Air Lines (DL), Tropic Air (9N) and United Airlines (UA).
Once you arrive on the island, you can rent a car. Use a service like Google Maps for directions.
Where To Stay
The hotels here are almost all local properties and quite beautiful. There is a choice Hotel branded hotel called Pineapple Villas too. Some in the town while others are along the beach. Its nice to get up and just walk a few steps to the beach. Don’t be alarmed if you lose power for a short time as it comes back in an even shorter time :-).
==>> Try Airbnb.
Where To Eat
Seafood. Yup, its an island and fish is the main course. There is of course fruits ranging from mangoes to coconuts.
What To Do
I’m not a fan of any kind of lizards, matter of fact anything that crawls, but here in Roatan, you must visit Arch’s Iguana and Marine Park. There are Iguanas literally dropping from trees. It’s a site to see and they actually let you feed them too. If that’s not your thing, then you can relax on the beaches, eat local food or go diving or just drive around this beautiful islands.
